The last will and testament of THOMAS JOYNER of the town of Douglas, deceased, is as follows, He being at perfect mind and memory at the making thereof:
First he bequeathed his Soul to God and his body to Christian Burial.
2ndly He left to his DAUGHTER MARGARET JOYNER who was then abroad the sum of one guinea or else the chest drawer that then stood in the parlour if in case she would come for the same.
3rdly He left his half of his seat in Douglas Chappell to go with his dwelling house; as the other half thereof was formerly left to his DAUGHTER ELIZTH by her Mother's last will.
4thly He left six pence apiece legacy to all that could claim or pretend a right to any part of his goods.
Lastly he nominated and appointed his DAUGHTER ELIZTH HARRISSON ALS JOYNER to be whole and sole Exr of all the rest of his goods whether moveable or immoveable be they of what kind or denomination soever. Witnesses at the making of the above will: Christopher Fitzsimons, John Cannon, jurati.
AT A CHAPTER COURT HOLDEN IN DOUGLAS FEBRY 9TH 1762: JAMES HARRISON HUSBAND of the Excrx is sworn for payment of debts & legacies & hath given pledges in form of Law namely Mr. Thos. Fargher of Malew & John Christian of Douglas Cooper. Solv: 12d, Probatum est. Ro: Radcliffe, Matths Curghey."
