The last will and testament of William Cannell junior of Shilcague within the parish of KK Michael who departed this life about the 23rd of December Anno Domini 1758, being of perfect mind and memory at the making hereof (after repeating the Lords prayer and the Creed). He committed his soul to God and body to Christian burial. Item, he left unto his father William Cannell five shillings legacy and to his mother Anne Cannell fifteen shillings. Item, to his sister Joney ten shillings. Item, to his sister Ellinor twenty shillings. Item, to his sister Margret ten shillings. Item, to his brother Philip ten shillings. Item, to his wifes goddaughter Isabel Gellin he left the cash which was in the hands of Thomas Garret and computed the same to about sixteen shillings. Item, he left a plow beast due by the settlement on contract with he got from his father together with the crop unto his beloved wife Isabel as legacy. Item, to Old Gilbert Calister he left his old wearing clothes. Item, he left six pence legacy to any person that might legally pretend right to his effects and one English shilling each to the witnesses. And lastly, he nominated and appointed his said wife Isabel Cannell als Lace sole executrix of all the rest of his goods moveable and immovable whatsoever and declared that she well deserved the same if twas more. Witnesses: John Cannell, William Corlett. At a Consistory Court held at KK Michael, March 7th, 1759, the Executrix is sworn in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges for payment of debts and legacies. At Ballaugh January 28th, 1763, William Cannel junior late of Shilchague in the parish of Michael, having in his last will and testament bequeathed the sum of ten shillings as legacy to his sister margret Cannel now the wife of John Killip of Lezayre, and made his wife Isabel Cannel his executor; ordered, that James Corkil, now husband of said Isabel do pay and discharge the said sum of ten shillings subpoena juri with all fees.[signed] Matthias Curghey. Isabel Gelling daughter of William Gelling, being arrived to lawful years acknowledges to be fully paid and satisfied by James Corkill husanband of Isabel Corkill als Cannell relict of William Cannell late of KK Michael deceased all and every the legacy devised unto her by the said William Cannell and hereby acquits and discharges the said James Corkill his executors and administrators of the same. I do hereby own and acknowledge that by virtue of an order of the Spiritual court against James Corkil of this Parish, I received from his the said Corkhils hands the sum of ten shillings which was a legacy due to Margaret Cannell by the last will and testament of her brother William Cannell of Shylchague, and which the said Corkill by marrying the said William Cannells executrix became subject to discharge. Joney Cannell sister of William Cannell junior of Shilcague in the parish of KK Michael, and Thomas Cubbon husband of Ellinor Cannell the sister of said William Cannell, severally acknowledge to have received from James Corkill husband of Isabel Corkill als Cannell relict and executor of the last will and testament of said William Cannell, all and every the legacies devised and bequeathed unto them said Joney and Ellinor Cannel by the said William Cannel and hereby acquit and discharge the said James Corkill his executors and administrators of the same. William Cannell of KK Michael and Anne his wife acknowledge to have received from James Corkill husband of Isabel Corkill late Cannell relict and executrix of the last will and testament of William Cannell, all and every the legacies bequeathed and due unto them respectively by the last will of the said William Cannell their son; and hereby acquit and discharge the said James Corkill and Isabel his wife their executors & administrators for the same.
