Maughold Feb 17 1756

Thomas Stole dyed on the coast of Scotland on or about the 19th Decr last intestate and whereas the sd Stole was lately marryed to Elizth Howard who declares she is not certain whether she be ensient or not Administration of all the goods of sd decd is in the mean time comitted unto sd Elizth the widow who is sworn to bring to the registry a perfect inventory & hath given pledges according to law namely Willm Kneale & John Cowle both of Lezayre

Edwd Stole brother of the decd is sworn to render a just acct of the decadts goods

the humble petion of Edwd Stole of the Town of Ramsay

Sheweth

That about the 19th day of Decr last Thos Stole ye petrs only brother died intestate upon the coast of Scotland, That at the last court of Correction held at Lezaire your petrs sister in law Eliz Stole als Howard did insist upon before yr Revcs that she did not know but she might then be wth child - whereupon ye revces was then pleased to swear her the said Eliz to bring to the Registry a perfect inventory and that at the same time yr sd petr was sworn to send up a just account of the decadts goods - and where as now it will be known that she the said Eliz was not ensient

Therefore yr petr most humbly begs yr Revces to swear yr petr adminr of the decd & also to order & appoint her the said Elizh to deliver up all the decadts goods as they were not a year & a day married wch grant[] your petr as in duty bound shall pray

At Lezayre Nov 12th 1756

The petr has authority to charge Elizth Stole als Howard his sister in law to the chapter court to be held at Lezayre on Monday 22d of this inst at noon whereof due notice to be given

At a chapter court holden at Lezayre Novr 22d 1756

The subject matter of the within peticon coming on this day to be heard in presence of the Petr & Eliz Stole the widow who confesses she is not ensient, neither does she claim any other right to the goods of the decedt Thos Stole (in regard they were not marry'd a year & day) than the amount of her bill of disbursements now exhibited & allowd off amounting to £8 2 8 currency of this Isle, which the petr is to allow her & she to retain in her hands & to deliver the remainder of the affects to the petr Edwd Stole brother to Thos Stole the deceadt & the sd Edwd is decreed sole Adminr of all the goods & chattells moveable & imoveable whatsover of the sd Thos WStole & is sworn for payment of debts according to law pledges are Wm Lace (witehall) & John Gill whereup the addministrcon granted to Elizth the widow on the 17 Feb annoo pred is hereby revoked solvt 2s 7d

memo a yellow Barcelona handerchief allowed the widow on acct of her extraordinary troubles which being much too low yet she accepts to thereof
