Ramsey Novr 3d 1755 James Gill ^ otherwise Killey ^ perished by sea on the coast of Scotland on or about the 18th day of Septr last intestate. The court upon intelligence thereof hath decreed his five children namely John, James, Ewan, Ellinr & Willm Gill joint adminrs of all his goods & chattells moveable & imoveable whatsoever - who being all under age the uncles by the father's side namely Ewan Gill & Edwd Corlet are sworn supervisors and consent to the dead's part of the children & their goods be committed to the widow Ellr Gill als Kneale, who is accordingly sworn to bring to the registry a perfect inventory as also for payment of debts - pledges for her in form of law are sd Ewan Gill & Willm Curghey of Baldromch Decreutum est Ro Radcliffe Matths Curghey Solvit 3d 1756 June 15 Wm Killey enters a claim agt the admrs of James Killey for £1 15 9 July 2 Hen Quayle claims for 0 4 0 Nov 23 Ja & Cath Joughin claim for 0 4 0 A true and perfect inventory of the goods & effects of James Killey of Ramsey and Ellinor Killey alias Kneale his wife both decd appraised by four sworn men vizt Danl Sayle, Mark Camaish Arthur Lace and John Corkill, and afterwards sold at public cant by the supervisors of the decds children as follows first a cow praised to £2 15s sold at £4 0 6d ... total 19 11 11 to be deducted out of the beforegoing inventory first to the funeral charges 0 17 2 to the writing of a petition 0 1 3 to a decree of administration 0 3 4 to sumners fees for charging sundry times 0 0 4 to the sumner for selling the goods at a sale 0 2 6 to sundry other expenses at the sale 0 1 3 to John Wilson for performing the office and duty of an auctionier at selling of the goods for five several days and for writing and publishing of the inventory etc 0 11 8 to the four sworn men who were praising of the goods for two days at 4 pence each per day 0 2 8 sum expended 2 0 2 clear inventory 17 11 9 The price of the sheep to be yet added as aforesd 16th July 1756 An account of the sheep first to a quarter or the fourth part of nine sheep in the keeping or under the care of Wm Knickle appraised to 3s each the deads part of the whole vizt 9d each sheep is 0 6 9 [then further sheep with varying fractional ownership] 7 kishans of barley 0 5 5 49 kishans of potatoes 1 0 11 ....
