  At Bishops' Court in the Diocese of Sodor & Man 22d Decr 1750
Thomas Caran late of the town of Douglas within
this diocese departed this life aboard his majesties
ship of war the Deal-Castle, abt the 6th Novr 1748
as by advice received, intestate. The Court upon
intelligence thereof comits unto his father Henry
Caran, administration of all his goods Chattles
Credits & Effects of what nature soever whereupon
sd Hen Caran is sworn in court well & truly to
administer all the goods & credits of the said
deceased intestate - as also to bring an inventory
to the Registry as he can discover the same and
likewise for payment of debts according to Law
be there ends and for security of the office
has given pledges namely Henry Woods & Daniel
Clague both of Peeltown

Sirs
We acquainted you in a former letter that 
Thos Caran late of the Deal Castle dyed the 6 Novr
1748, & the wages due to him about £18 - since
which I have received yours of the 22d past in answer
to which acquaint you now with the following
particulars vizt
Berwick Thos Montgomery [captain] not found on her Books from the year 1743 to 1748
Ruby Do not found from 1745 to 1749 therefore querie if he belongs to these ships before these times

Alborough Do Run 6 Aprl 1748
Lark - Thos Callow unpaid
Roebuck Luke Middleton - £17 5 5 paid Jas Henshaw 20th Nov 1741 for Robt Tomason Execrs
