Archdeacon Wills 1729 #44, Patrick, of Thomas Karran of Creglea in Dauby, Patrick, died 23 March 1729:

"The last will and testament of Thomas Karran of Creglea in Dauby, who departed this life 23rd of March last past, being sensible, and of perfect mind and memory at the making uttering and expressing thereof, in manner and form as followeth. First, he committed his soul to God and his body to Christian burial. Item, he left and bequeathed unto his son and heir Patrick Karran the half of the crop, team and husbandry gears, likewise he left him the [r]eeve and the tubb that was taken of it, and also the filly, because his said son and heir was to take care of all the goods (which he gave for a reason of that bequest); likewise he left his said son and heir the best pot in the house. Item, he left to his four children eight pounds apiece that is, to William, Thomas, Jane and Margaret, and likewise ten shillings legacy to his daughter Anne that was married. Lastly, though his foregoing declarations were uttered in perfect sense and capacity of mind, yet his weakness, and his death soon ensuing deprived him of mentioning an Executor, which is offered to the consideration of the Court. Witnesses: John Callin, Henry Quilliam.

KK Patrick 1729, The within Thomas Karran having departed this life of 23rd of March left without mentioning an Executor, the Courts hath decreed his five children, viz., Patrick, William, Thomas, Jane & Margaret Karran joint administrators of all his goods and effects whatsoever save what is disposed of by and within will, which is to stand good as is therein mentioned. The widow and her son Patrick are sworn supervisors of the children under age according to Law. The Children and their goods (except the heir and his goods) in the care of the mother, who hath given pledges, Mr. William Tear and Thomas Mylrea. The inventory next Court. An Inventory of the Goods of Thomas Karran of Creglea in Dauby taken and estimated by four sworn men and the Sumner for the use of Jane & Margaret his daughters under age; the several particulars being valued separately. The whole in gross forthcoming for the said minors amounts to the sum of 15 pounds. The two children at age vizt., William & Thomas have taken their own goods into their own hands, and this before the four men and the Sumner, October 13th, 1730.

The goods paid and secured for the 4 children amounting to the sum of 30 pounds. In consideration of which by joint consent of the supervisors and the children at age, the crop, team and husbandry gears, vizt., the dead’s part are secured for the succeeding heir or heirs which in the judgment of the apprizers and Sumner is no prejudice to the other children."
