"The last will and testament of John Ratcliffe who departed this life January 4th, 1726, being of perfect mind and memory at the making thereof. First, he committed his soul to God, and his body to Christian burial. Item, he left to his son James Ratcliffe twenty shillings that he owed the Testator, the new chest that was in the house, and the crop, with all the utensils belonging to the house, and the brink kiln. Item, he left to his said sons wife an heifer, and she to pay two shillings to the children to his daughter Alice. Item, he left to his daughter Alice a feather bed, bolster, two blankets, and an old fledge. Lastly, he nominated and appointed his son Richard Ratcliffe sole Executor of all the rest of his goods, moveable, and immoveable, whatsoever. To the witnesses of the will 6 pence each. Witnesses: Philip Kneale, John Lace.
The Executor sworn in Court in form of Law. The witnesses are pledges."
