Edward Hopes perished by sea in November last, intestate
whereof ye church having intelligence , hath decreed
his two children, Wm & Elizabeth joynt & sole adminrs
of all his goods & effects moveable & immoveable whatsoever
who being underage, John Corris, ye uncle, is sworn
in court in form of law, the wife is also sworn.
Decretum et solvit 1s 9d
Their goods & children in the mother's hands
by the overseer's (?) consent, with this proviso, yt
if the children dye under age, she is to
have all the sd goods, excepting their part
of the house & garden.

Edward Hopes m Jane Radcliffe at Patrick 4 May 1723; William bp German 16 Oct 1726, no baptism found for Elizabeth. If John Corris was uncle on Edward's side then must have married a sister but no marriage found though a Jane Corrise als Hopes buried Kk German 29 May 1753. Edward Hopes shown as buried German 2 Nov 1727, Jane Hopes, widow, bur Ger 10 Dec 1745

Edward Hopes is noted as holding German Cottage #30 of 4d Lord's rent for 1721 & 1728 (change in 1738), in 1740 book Edw Hopes still down for 2d and Wm+Eliz Hopes down for 2d, in 1750 Wm Hopes down for Edward's 2d with change noted for 1757 (Jane Corris & John [] added above name); by 1764 Wm Gell had 3d with Eliz Hopes 1d, in 1783 book change in Eliz's 1d noted Oct 1787 (and Wm Gell's 3d had changed to Henry Gell of K.K.Patrick (change Oct 1787) Ann Gell als Radcliffe May 1787). The details can be fleshed in from From North side sales - Edward Hopes bought on 9 Sep 1715[olddeeds 1 #66] for £3 of William Christian, blacksmith, & wife Ann Christian als Garrett a parcel of intack called a garden betwixt capt Matth Cowle's house and Gilbt Crain's house (Lord's rent 5d), then on 4 May 1719 [Olddeeds 2 #74] he bought of his neighbours Wm & Margt Kneale, John & + Katharine Hutchin & Margtt Cross, relict of Jon Cross late of peeltown 'all just and equal title to house or old walls + easment or liberty from west end thereof to the street with ladder room at the repairing of the lane or the inside or garden side' of Lord's rent 4d which presumeably was the 4d cottage though the 1703 composition book has William Christian,smith, tenant of a 4d cottage formerly on the name of Thos Stephen being part of the 6d compounded for in 1643 by Margt Kanglish ; a deed dated 12 Feb 1742/3[NSS May 1756 #10] part of a marriage contract drawn up by John Corris snr + Jane Corris als Hopes for Edw Corris to Eliz Saint in which property described as whole tenemt or concerns of houses, gardens, smithy and lands in peeltown; the half of smithy to be possessed immediately + they also reserve the little croft adj to the end of the smithy & caine's croft for their son John and the use of half the smithy for him likewise whilst he has a mind to work in it. William Hopes sold to John Kelly, merchant, by deed dated 23 June 1747 [NSS may 1755 #10] for 20s a piece of ground lying without west gable of my house in a direct line towards the shore and the ground on the south side of my house with the priv of building a wall in a stright line from my gable towards the shore that is to say five feet in on the side of the house and so in a direct line to the shore with the benefit half of new wall that is now building to be built down from the house to the shore to be a gable if he shall build another house without the house he now lives in. By a deed dated 29 Jan 1760 [NSS Oct 1761 #7] John Corris and Ann Hopes (who is a dumb person) sold to 'our friend' John Charles that house & garden known as Hope's house for £5

Elizabeth Hopes m Wm Wade (an irishman) at Kk German 29 Jan 1742/3, with dau Margaret bp 1 Feb 1743/4 and bur (as Mary) 2 Feb 1743/4; (mother had tumour) and was buried Ger 14 Feb 1743/4.
