Archdeacon Wills 1721 #10, Malew of William Taggart senior of BallaKew, Malew, made 6 March 1720/21:

"In the name of God, amen. I William Taggart senior of BallaKew in the Parish of KK Malew being sick and weak in body but of perfect memory do make this my last will and testament in manner following. First, I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, my Maker and Redeemer, and my body to Christian burial. Item, he left to his five children viz., Henery, John, Eals, Ellinor, and Margery Taggart four pounds to each child. Item, he left his grandson William Taggart two bedsteads that is in the Quilley. Item, he mentioned what money’s was indebted to him: Thomas Sansbury 14 shillings; Thomas Lawarance 13 shillings, John Mylrea fildrow 2 shillings; John Bridson in Duglas 17 shillings; David Young 15 shillings; John Cenna 8 shillings; Hanna Looney 4 shillings; Richart Thomson 2 shillings; Nicholas Shimmin 2 shillings 4 pence; John Quark 2s:10p; Robt Hanton 2s; James Hanton 2 s; John Cain 10p; William Cenna 10 shillings. Item, he left the poor to be distributed amongst them half a furlet of barley and half a furlet of mail. Lastly, he left and appointed his loving wife whole Executrix of all the rest of his goods moveable and immoveable whatsoever. Item, he left his children to his loving wife to look to until they would come to age, with their goods. (Item, he left his loving friends Thomas Cain Taltaby and John Moore scxxxxx. [This has been crossed out.]) As witness my mark put to my name the 6th of March 1720/21. [signed his mark] William Taggart.

Witnesses: Thomas Taubman, John Bridson.

The Executrix sworn in Court in form of Law, and Henry & Catherine Taggard the brother and sister at age are sworn supervisors of the children under age.

The witnesses are pledges, according to Law. John Taggart son of the deceased acknowledges to be fully paid and satisfied in the legacy of four pounds bequeathed unto him by his father William Taggart. And this at and from the hands of William Kewley the Executrix of Margaret the Executrix of said William Taggart. And this before me, Edw: Moore.

At Ballaugh, October 19th, 1726: William Cowley & Ellinor Cowley als Taggart his wife have this day acknowledged to be fully paid and satisfied the four pounds bequeathed to the said Ellinor by her father William Taggart late of Ballakew in KK Malew, and therefore they hereby discharge and acquit their mother Margaret Kewley als Kelly her Executors and Administrators for the same. As witness their subscriptions the day and year above written. [signed their marks] William Cowley, Ellinor Cowley. Before me William Walker.

KK Michael, January 6, 1741: Margaret Taggart now the wife of Harry Christian acknowledges to have received the legacy of four pounds left unto her by her father William Taggart of KK Malew deceased about 20 years ago and his will in the Archdeacon Registry. Before me Edw: Moore."
