"This is affirmed to be the last will of James Lawson who departed this life about the 7th of July 1717, being in perfect mind and memory at the making thereof. First, he committed his soul to God, and his body to Christian burial. Item, he left to his brother John 6 pence legacy. To his other brothers Richard & David to each 6 pence. Item, to his sisters Margrett & Jony 6 pence to each. Item, to his said brother Rich a hat and his shoes and stockins. Item, to his sister Bahie a sheep and a lamb. Item, to the witnesses of the will 6 pence apiece. Lastly he appointed his mother Cathrine Lawson sole Executrix of all the rest of his goods whatsoever. Item, he declared that John Quark at Kiandroghad did owe him 15 pence, and payment for the web in the loomes. Will Craine did owe him 10 pence. Thoms: Gawn 6 pence.
