This is affirmed to be the last will of John Cubon who was buried the 18th of April 1717. Being in good and perfect mind and memory at the makeing thereof First he commended his soul to God and Body to Christian buriall. Itm he left to his wife a cow with which ever goods remained after his son Robert and daughter Jane ware payed their mothers pt of goods. Itm to the sd Robert and Jane 3s legacy betwixt them. Itm he declared that Patrick Corkill owed him twenty shillings itm from Robt Hampton in Kk St Ann 17s. to the witness a sheep. Itm he declared that there was a horse betwixt him and Patrick Corkill he left his half of the said horse to the sd Patrick, he gives his son Robt Cubon half the hide thereof when it was dead Witness William Cubon At Douglas May 20 1717 There being only one witness the court has decreed his two children, Robt & Jane Cubon joint Admrs & a legacy to the widow on sight of the inventory Decretu et solve The inventory within a month sub paena 10s The testr was sworn (when the admrs mother Christian Cubon als Oates died) to bring in an inventory, wch he however neglected & therefore the admrs are to have (first) half the present inventory & then half with their stepmother Alice Cubon als Clague
His burial and that of his first wife are not obvious - there are only 6 burials in index for Braddan in 1717 which looks as though the register is deficient, there is a burial for a Christian Oats in Braddan 27 Jun 1709 with a will for Christian Cubon als Oates Braddan 1709; marriage Braddan 3 Apr 1703. There is a will for Alice Cubon in Braddan 1719 with a burial for an Alice Clague in same year (to be checked) and marriage Braddan 4 Jul 1710
