Archdeacon Will 1716/7 #25, Rushen, of Isabel Clucas als Carin of Port-le-Morrey, died 4 January 1716/7:

"Trinity Rushen, Anno 1716/17: This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of Isabel Clucas als Carin of Port-le-Morrey, who departed this life about the 4th of January last, made this her last will and testament, as is hereafter expressed, being of sound and perfect mind and memory at the making, vizt.: Imprimis, she committed her soul to God and her body to be interred in the Christian and decent manner. Item, she left to her eldest son William Clucas half the crop, half the husbandry gears, and half the team of oxen. Item, she left and appointed her other six children, viz., John, Isabel, Elinor, Thomas, Mary, & Jane joint executors of all the rest of her effects moveable and immoveable whatsoever, reserving and bequeathing to the two last mentioned, vizt, Mary & Jane 20 xx apiece over and above the other four. Witnesses: Richard Carin, Henry Kermod.

Four of the Executors being under age, John & Isabel Clucas the other two Executors are sworn in Court in form of Law, with the father.

The four Executors under age with their goods are in the father’s hands, who hath given pledges, Mr. Quayle of KK Xt Rushen and Mr. Maddrell of Castletown. Trinity Rushen:

Whereas Isabel Clucas late of Port-le-Morrey departed this life about the 4th of January last, and whereas the Sumner according to practice and due course of Law held in this Island, went to have the effects of the said Isabel Clucas prized by 4 sworn neighbours. It is therefore to prevent any xxxare trouble by dividing of the said effects, and that the said prized xxxent may cease, mutually agreed upon betwixt John Clucas the relict of the said Isabel Clucas and his children, vizt., John & Isabel the Administrators at age, that the said John & Isabel are each of them to have in lieu of their mother’s part of goods seven pounds sterling clear of all debts and encumbrances upon the Testatrix. And that the like sum of seven pounds apiece clear of all debts and encumbrances as aforesaid is to be given to Elinor, Thomas, Mary & Jane for their part or share of Mother’s goods, also besides 20 shillings apiece to Mary & Jane as ’tis specified in their mother’s last will. And to witness this to be the said parties final agreement in this concern, they have set to their hand their marks this 5th of February Anno Domini 1716/7. The husband of Isabel Clucas and the two Executors of age have deposed that the value of the decedents goods xx included in this Agreement; which is accepted for the Inventory of the said Isabel Clucas.

June 7th, 1721: This day John, Isabel, Ellinor & Thomas children of the within Isabel Clucas acknowledged to have received at and from the hands of their father John Clucas the contents of the withing Inventory, as agreed, viz., seven pounds each, besides the sum of twenty shillings more each added and paid by their father, and do hereby acquit, discharge and exonerate their said father, his Executors and assigns forever for their mother’s part of goods, witness their marks to their names the year and day above written. February the 17th, 1725/6: This day Mary daughter of the within Isabel Clucas being at lawful years, came to the Records and at and from the hands of her brother in law John Crebbin the full sum of nine pounds due her by the death of her mother afore said, and doth hereby acquit and discharge her said brother, his Executors, &c., forever of the same. Witness her mark to her name the year and day above written. [signed her mark] Mary Clucas. Before me, William Gell Registrar.

Eodem die & anno: Jane Clucas received from her brother in law John Crebbin the sum of nine pounds due to her by the death of her mother, and doth hereby acquit and discharge her said brother in law, his heir, Executors &c., forever of the same.
