This is affirmed to be the last will & testament of Philip Kneale of Ramsey who departed this life about the 29th of December 1712 First he committed his soul to God & his body to Christian burial Item he left & bequeathed unto his son Edmund Kneale all his part of the houses gardens & backsides with his part of the dails & if thatt his wife did make use of them then she is to pay his sd son in consideracon thereof the sum of forty six shills: he also left his sd son his part of the cow that is kept at home & yt ye sd cow be left in ye custodey or keeping of his wife & that ye increase thereof be for the use of his sd son and when yt the sd cow decline the same is to be made sail off and anothr cow be kept in place thereof and ye increase of ye sd cow also to be run up as afforsd for the use of the sd son. Itm he left & bequeath'd unto his daughter Margrett Kneale the sum of seven pounds starlin with a cow & ye increase thereof wch is in ye custody of Robt Casmt [Casement] Itm he willed yt his wife shud have ye care of his children with their goods till they shud arrive to age of 21 years and yt they shud have no power till then of makeing away or deminishing of their sd goods but such as their mothr & supervisors shall think convenient Itm he left to his brothr Michell Kneale the best coat & hatt and if yt his sd children did decease under age then it was his will yt Michal Kneale ye son of his brothr John shud have & enjoy his part of the above houses gardens and backsides Itm he left to Capt John Wattleworth & John Kneale to each of them a shilling Item he constituted & ordained his sd son & daughter his true and lawfull execrs of all the rest of his goods moveable & unmoveable Item he desired yt Capt John Wattleworth John Kneale Regabee and John Kneale his brothr might be supervisors of his sd Children Witnesses Robt Wattleworth John Kneale - jurati John Kneale Regabie with the two brethren John & Michell Kneale are sworn supervisors in form of law & soo is ye wife Probatum est et solvit 3s ? At Ballaugh Novr 26th 1725 All accts being settled this day betwixt Thomas Baillie of Ramsey & his stepson Edmund Kneal touching the goods due to the sd Kneal by the death of his father Philip Kneal, it appears that he has in money & sundry particulars recvd all that was due to him excepting about thirty shillings wch 30s he the sd Edmd Kneale allows his stepfather towards the expence & trouble of maintaining his pt of his half brothers & sisters (to wch he was obliged by law) until the eldest of them comes to 14 years of age, & therefore he not only acquits & discharges his sd stepfather & his mothers exrs & acmrs for all things of wt nature soe- ever (houses gardens & backsides excepted) wch were due to him by the death of his father, bur also on acct of the maintenance of his half brothers & sisters as aforesd obliges himself to pay his step father, when he shall arrive at the age of 21 years the further sum of twenty shillings, & to allow him the whole use and profit of his pt of the houses & gardens untill that time. And hereto both parties have consented & bound themselves to performance in penalty of £20 in nature of all fines As witness their subscriptions this 26 Nov 1725 Edmund Kneale, Thos Baillie witnessed by Jon Kneal Regaby his mk Jon Kneal Ballaluig mrk eodem die this settlemt of accts was made & the discharge given (in presence of 2 of Edmd Kneale's supervisors, who are witnesses thereto) before me Wm Walker
