Archdeacon Wills 1700 #90, Ramsey, Maughold, of Mr. John Quayle, died about 10th January 1699/1700:

"Ramsey: Mr. John Quail departed this live about the 10th of January last intestate, whereof the Court having intelligence hath decreed his three children vizt., Elizabeth, Margaret, and John Quail, sole and joint Administrators of all his goods moveable and unmoveable whatsoever. Elizabeth and Margaret being at age are sworn in Court in form of Law; and a legacy to the wife upon sight of the Inventory. The Inventory to be brought within a month.

November 26th 1700: Ch: Casement enters his claim against the Administrators of Mr. John Quail for 4 shillings 4 pence due, &c. Whereas Mr. John Quaile of Ramsey about a year and a half ago died intestate, whereof the Spiritual Court having Intelligence made a decree upon his three children vizt., Elizabeth Quaile, Margaret, & John Quaile, And whereas according to the practice and due course of Law had on this Island, the Sumner have this day charged some neighbours (who are witnesses to this Agreements) to praise the goods of the said Mr. John Quaile, It is therefore for prevention of future trouble by dividing of the said goods and that the said prxxxxement shall cease, mutually agreed upon betwixt Mrs. Esther Quaile relict of the said Mr. Quaile and her said children Elizabeth & Nicholas Christian her son in law in behalf of the said Margaret, That the said Elizabeth Quaile & Nicholas Christian are each of them to have in lieu of their father’s part of goods fourty pounds sterling with a good furnished feather bed to each, and clear of all debts and encumbrances upon the Testator. And that the like sum of fourty pounds with a furnished bed clear of all debts as aforesaid is to be given her said son John Quaile for his part or share of father’s goods also, That the said Elizabeth is to have five pounds in hand of the said forty and five pounds more at next Michaelmass, and the other thirty pounds two years hence. And to witness this to the said parties final Agreement in this concern they have set their hands and affixed their seals this 28th day of May Anno Domini 1701. 23rd of June 1701: It is further agreed upon betwixt the above Mrs. Hesther Quaile and her said daughter Elizabeth that the said Mrs. Hesther Quaile doth of her own voluntary will, and in consideration only of her motherly affection to her said daughter promis that her said daughter shall have the further sums of ten pounds after her said Mother’s decease, provided then be effects answerable to the performance thereof. And this in the presence of us, John Curghey, Regr., Ewan Christian. 23rd of Jun 1701: This with the consent of the Administrators at age is given in as the full and perfect Inventory of Mr. John Quail and xxxx Quail has given pledges for the just xxxx xxxx hereto included as also of all other debts, Ewan Cxxxx and Christopher Quay in form of Law.

July the 14th 1707: We do acknowledge to have received at and from the hands of our mother Ester Quaile of Ramsey the full sum of forty pounds sterling within mentioned, And do thereof and every part and parcel thereof acquit exonerate and discharge the said Mrs. Quaile her heirs Executors Administrators and assigns forever by these presents, As witness our hands the day and year above said. By us [signed] Nicholas Christian, Margret Christian. Witnesses: John Curghy, Christopher Quay."
