Archdeaconal Will 1693 #40 German, of Captain Thomas Woods of Knocksharry, German, made 16 March 1693/4:

"German: In the name of God, Amen. I Thomas Woods of Knocksharry in the parish of KK German being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and good memory praised be God for ye same doe make this my last will and testament in form and manner following. First, I commend my precious soul into ye hands of Almighty God & my body to Xtian burial. And as for those worldly goods where with it has pleased God to bless me with, I dispose of the same as followeth:
To the poor of the parish of KK German & KK Patrick, & Peeltown, I leave and bequeath the yearly benefit of a certain parcel of quarter land which I had in mortgage from Adam Cannell of Ballaicenane[?] of the annual rent of two shillings six pence, in lieu and consideration of the sum of eight pounds six shillings four pence the benefit of wch land being set to the best advantage, is to be yearly distributed at ye discretion of the minister& wardens of the sd parishes and if at any time hereafter the sd lands be redeemed by the heirs or assigns of the sd tenements, then my executor is to make up the sd sum ten pounds sterling which ten pounds is to be sett at interest and the yearly interest to be distributed among the sd poor forever.
Itt, I leave and bequeath unto my loving wife all such goods as were in her name at ye time of our marriage out of ye whole, with all webs & wool in ye house, half of all the young cattle reared since the time, she having one calf out of ye whole, also my part of the twenty five pounds in mortgage of John Harrison’s house & lands, one cow, a stock of bees and the remainder of the cropp of corn she paying all debts incumbent upon it.
Itt, I leave and bequeath unto ye eldest son of my son of my son Thomas or to the Heir of his Estate whether male or female the sum of twenty pounds sterling to be paid to him when he enters upon the sd Estate and the interest till then if it can be put out on good security to goe towards the sd heir xxxxx hereby enjoying my sd son & his wife to leave their sd child the whole cropp & team after their decease.
Itt, I leave to my son Thomas the bedsteads, cupboard, tables & chests in the house.
Itt, I leave to my daughter Katharin five pounds & ten shillings in ye hands of Capn Sil Ratcliffe with the interest xxx for four years provided that if he pay the sd sum & interest without trouble that then he is to be remitted one years interest.
Itt, to his sd daughter xxxx sum of 47s in the hands of widow Harrison.
Ittm, to his daughter Jane 6d[?].
Itm to my wife xx of ye new casque in ye cellall at Peel.
Itm, I leave to my son Tho xxx of ye money in Mrs Wattlewothe’s hands due by bond xxx what would make xxxx pounds to what accounts he is already in my books, and that in full of xx he xxxxx can claim my his mother’s death, also I leave to my sd son Thomas xxxxxxxxx with what vessels are in ye house injoyning my sd son not to trouble or xxx my Executor upon any account whatsoever.
I leave to Parson John Christian three guineas.
And lastly, I constitute and ordain my son John Woods sole executor of all the rest of my worldly goods moveable and unmoveable and desire my loving friend Parson John Christian to be aiding and assisting to my sd Execr in xxx what is due to him & to be rewarded for his pains and trouble, & I witness this to be my last will & testament, revoking all former wills made by me, I have hereunto sett my hand the sixteen day of March 1693/4. I doe hereby further declare that some dayes after the making of the above will, coming to visit the above Testator he declared that out of compassion to his daughter Jane he had left her forty shillings of the money in Mr. Wattleworthe’s hands which he desired me to see performed, as witness my hand, John Christian, juratus. The aforesaid Testator left unto his daughter Jane 20s of yt money left unto his daughter Kath: Testes: Ellin Woods, John Woods, jurati.

The Executor at age is sworn in Court according to Law. Probatum et Solvit.

The Inventory to be brought in ye next Court, subpoena xx 10s xxxxxxx.

June the 14th 1694: Hugh Cannell enters his claime against the Exec of Capt Thos Woods for the sum of 2s and a xxx xxxx worth 2s or 2s itself due for wages &c.
Die et Anno predicto: Wm Cain enters against ye sd Executors for the sum of 4s and a xxx xxxx worth 2s or else 2s itself due for wages &c. The Inventory of Capt Tho: Woods brought in by the Execr amts to the sum of 4 pounds 00 shillings 00 pence. Pledges according to Law, John Gell and xxxx Ratcliff.

June the 7th 1695: Mr. Henry Harrison enters his claime against the Execr of Capt Tho: Woods for the sum of 3 pounds due &c."
