Archdeacon Will 1684/5 #33, Bride of David Oates:

"KK Bryde, December 14 1684: The last will and testament of David Oates who committed his soul unto God and his body to Christian burial. Item, he left and bequeathed unto John Callow a colt and half a quart of hemp. Item, he left unto Margaret Kelly all his corn except 3 pottles of corn vizt., of barley, rye and pease each a pottle which he left to his Executor. Item, he left half the xxxx to the said Margaret Kelly and the other half to his Executor. Item, to the said Margaret Kelly a chest a casket, 2 ounce of flax and a barrel and a plead. Item, to Kath Casement a pound of flax. Item, he left unto Daniel Lace and to Alice Lace seven pence that was in the said Dan:Lace his own hand and a kear sheep and a pound of wool. Item, he left unto David Saile and to his wife a sheep and a ewe lamb. Item, to the said David’s wife a pound of flax and a pound of wool, and half pound of flax unto ye said David’s daughter. Item, to his wife 6 pence legacy. To his son 6 pence legacy, if the said wife and son should come for it. Item, he acknowledged that John Kerush, John Quane and John Kneale owed him for tobacco a penny apiece. Item, he acknowledged that he owed 2 pence unto Thomas Kaughin. Item, he left to ye curate 6 pence. Item, he constituted and nominated Arthur Cowle his sole executor of all the rest of his goods moveable and immoveable whatsoever with his house and land and all his rents forever, and he the said Arthur to defray all funeral charges, in every respect, and to prepare a winding sheet, and do other businesses to the same relating. Item, I do hereby declare that the said goods are not altogether given by me gratis unto ye said Arthur, but for and regard of his great care had and taken of me in this my infirm condition. Item, to the said David Saile a basket. Witnesses: David Saile, John Curghey, jurati. The Inventory comes to 00:17:00. The Executor sworn in form of Law. Probatum est et Solvit 12 pence. Pledges in form of Law John Cowle & David Saile."
