Archdeacon Wills 1675 #48 Braddan, of Catharine Oates als Cottier:

"April ye 13^th 1675: In ye name of God Amen. I Catherin Cotter als Oats, sick in body but in perfect memory praised be God, do commit my soul to God and my body to Christian burial. Item, I constitute and ordain my three children vizt., Michell Oats, Ann and Margrett my lawful Executors of all my goods moveable and immoveable whatsoever. Witnesses: Dorothy Gill als Moore, Baheey Kelly. Examined per me Rich Fox, Epi. Reg. Dorothy Gill als Moore one of the witnesses hath deposed the above will to be ye last and to be truth in every particular and ye other (viz Baheey Kelly) who is out of ye Island having also taken her oath to ye truth there of before a magistrate there and certified to this Court as is desired, the same shall be held and reputed valid according to ye purport thereof. Dated at the Court of KK Braddan

June the 9^th Anno Domini 1675. Joh:Harrison[?] Vicar General. This xxx agreeing with the original. June ye 8^th 1675: Whereas there are 2 xxxx wills made by Cath: Oats exhibited to this Court, and one of the witnesses to ye latter being out of ye Country; It is upon consideration had of these concern, decreed by this Court that all her goods whatsoever shall be secured in the custody of her son Michaell Oats (after a perfect Inventory is taken) until such time as ye said witness return, or take her oath before a magistrate there, touching the truth of the said latter will, to which end the said Michael hath given bonds as appears on Record, dated et supra. Janry[?] 17^th 1675: All parties concerned having met together in the face of the Court ye day xxxx have agreed that Michal Oats and Ann Oats in xxxx that have half of all the visible estate xx xxxxx xxx xxx xxx xxxxx of her mother Cath: Oats at the time of her death that Margt Oats shall have the other half of the said goods in regard of Margert is not capable of herself, through her infirmity to make any bargain or contract, but only out[?] her natural brother or sister, and this is done at confession parting of the brother & sister in the Island, and also the supervisor Joh:Cotter [or Culter] This is to be sent to Pat: Rogger[?] to xxxxxx.

Jany[?] 17^th 1675: Item, Doll: Moore have declared in Court, that she being produced to prove xxxx xxx deceased the prove the same but only had her say for 3 children, but xxxxx of a will."
