Archdeacon Will 1668 Andreas, of William Garrett, dated 24 April 1668, proved 14 Nov 1668:

"In nominee Dei, amen. William Carrett sick in body but whole and of perfect memory thanks be to God, do make my last Will in manner and form following: first, I comit my sould into xxxx of Almightie God, and my body to Christian buryall. Item, I leave xxxx poor a firlet of malt at All Hallowtide, and what else is needful and has xxxx xxxx wife xxxxxxxx [?desirations]. Item, I leave to my eldest son, and soe from xxxx[?each] one if he dye, that he pay to each of my children 10 shillings apiece xxx consideration thereof. I leave unto him all my croft with the [gears?] (to which the wife gave consent) and ordained him only the Executor of all the rest of my goods whatsoever. Item, I leave to my wife my part of the xxx and the chest. Item, I leave her also my interest in the farme land I bought & she to give it to my eldest daughter if she desired it: and she to enjoy her own half of all crofts and houses during her life, if she marry not: note that his second daughter’s portion was thxxx nominated before the wife. Also he xxxlled before Joh:Sayle & Willm:Sayle & Joh:Keneene, that the remainder of his meale and xxxx xx feeding should be to maintain and bring up my children to the xxxx xxxxx. Dorothy Carret the eldest aged sworn supervisor of the children under age, and also William Sayle sworn supervisor. The mother have given her consent to the husband’s will, in the presence of the Court, and sworn also to bring in a perfect Inventory xxxx xxxxx xxxx xxxx. Witnesses: Joh:Huddlestone, Joh:Sayle, jurati.

Proved in KK Bryde Nov the 14th 1668. Probated & Solvit 1 shilling.

The Inventory of the said testator prized by 4 sworn men vizt, Will Cleter, Donll.Mcylvorry, Jo:Kelly, & Jo:Sayle, amounts to 1 pound 10 shillings 0 pence. Debts to be deducted out of the Inventory, vizt, pd to Joh:Watkin[?] 2s 6p; to Will Sayle in his portion 5s; for his burying 1s; for probate 1s.

Nov the 7th, 1669: the Executor being at lawful years have this day taken the custody of all his goods, and have given in pledges secunda forma legis sub poena doubly valued, Joh:Sayle & Christian Steven his mother. xxxxx witnesses present when William Garrett upon his death bed xxxxx that he and his wife was to pay by contract to William Sayle with his daughter marrying in portion 2 blankets and a sheet, a sheep and lamb, and a heifer of a year old, and 10s in money, and if his said daughter departed this life without xxxxx[?offspring], that then his daughter’s portion was to return to his other children.

March the 7th 1669/70: The ten shillings above mentioned have this day been fully satisfied and paid by Christian Steane his mother in law unto him her son in law Willm Sayle in the presence of us this 7th of March 1669. [signed his mark] William Sayle. Testes: William Brew, John Sayle.

January 27th 1687: Wm Carrett came this day and acknowledgeth to have received from Patrick Carrett his brother the 10s due to him by the death of his father, and doth acquit him of the same, as witness his mark: Wm Carrett’s mark. Before me S:Watleworth, Registrar.

January the 6th 1698/9: Philip Brew in behalf of his wife Mariod Carret does acknowledge to have received from Patrick Carrett the 10s owed to her [by the] last will of her father and doth acquit him of the same. Witness his mark, Philip Brew. Before me, John Christian, Registrar."
