Yes a very sad story, unfortunately I expect there were a lot of these cases, where mum died at childbirth or when the baby was still young.

With you finding this 1901 census information though and the death entry of Ella Jane, it now confirms to me that the surname on the marriage record is in fact Coe. Thank you.
