Thanks for the info, sorry it took so long to post but I've been on The Island (for a wonderful 2 weeks) chasing down alsorts of details.
The answer is that Patrick might be related to John. I believe, tho' I've not got back that far yet but I believe John's grandfather was a Patrick. John died on the island in 1804 according to his will which I just acquired, with no mention of press gangs, so my next trip will chase the family back.
