Did either of his parents Wm Faragher (Fargher) or Jane Hampton leave a will? That is usually the best way of confirming a son or daughter. There are often previously unknown children who appear in wills. (Also in the wills of other family members - as an uncle or aunt supervisor in a sibling's will, or in a grandparent's will, etc.)
