Thanks for the info we have just got back from IOM we went to the Manx Musuem library a number of time, you are right the staff there were very helpful Ive now got a copy of map of were the family lived, I also bought a copy of 1866 map of douglas, they gave me details of the grave (which we went to visit) and found another ancestor, didnt get to the FHS at Peel (maybe next time) but I will send for the membership and also some of the CD now I have a better idea what I am looking for.
I didnt find Thomas wife Christian death or burial so I am now in that trail
