Re: QUIRK DNA SEARCH
In Response To: Re: QUIRK DNA SEARCH ()

Hi again re suggested DNA check on QUIRK surname links .....
Sorry if I came across as claiming to be an expert in this field, I have simply done as much reading as possible in attempt to find source of my line and as my test shows me as belonging to Haplogroup R1b or and/as having the M343 marker it is most likely that "my quirk line" arrived on the IOM from Ireland after crossing from northern Spain. This move was well back in history and prior to settled surnames so am not certain of reference to conversation re Normans with Frances and self .. was this self, me or you?
I am simply keen to have others encouraged to enter common surname test regimes which will identify if there exists single/common ancestor and how many generations "back" this was.
It seems to me that IOM is perfect 'study ground' for DNA work that could clarify and explain surname groupings and behaviours such as you evidence from your own studies. If reasonably certain proof is available it seems silly to waste the opportunity, surely.
