I've come to she same conclusion, Sue. The Robert Corlett of Kerromoor who married Elizabeth Cowley in 1872, and who was father of the 2 children, George Alexander and Emma Isabella, is definitely the Robert Corlett who is easily found in 41, 51, 61 and 71 at Kerromoar, Lezayre with both his parents, Thomas and Jane. In 51 and 61 he's a shoemaker, and then in 71 he's a miner (writing is clear, def not mariner.)
In 81 at Kerromoor, Thomas is an 83 year old widower with unmarried 37 year old daughter Elizabeth, dressmaker, plus 2 grandchildren. These are Eliz Holmes age 7, b England, and Emma I Corlett age 10, b England. So Emma was born on the mainland and taken over to the IOM to be baptised.
The question is, did the enumerator write "miner" instead of "mariner" in 1871, or did the parish clerk / transcriber write "mariner" instead of "miner" on the marriage entry ?
Either way, it's not the same Robert Corlett age 40 on board "Persia" in 1871, unless it was possible for him to manage to be included twice in the same census.
I haven't looked for George Alexander Corlett yet.
