have you checked general registry to see if they left a will - might be easier to check - also if they owned property then you should be able to trace any sale again via registry (until fairly recently all property sales were also carried by the local press but obviously this is a major search) - however these require personal search at registry but if you have address of property then the current owner should have a copy of deeds that should go back to early 20th C.
