Hi Liz, thank you for your efforts. Below is an extract from Frances’ Manx Notebook which puts a Pub called the “Ivy cottage” on the road to Castletown which may be in keeping with the LYNCHEYS living at Malew.
Also a posting from last October by davidr which puts the pub “opposite the Estate” which I assume was The Nunnery.
So far as the farm is concerned as Frances suggested it may have disappeared under a housing development. Alternatively it may be there under a different name.
Sue interpreted the name as “Lhe Kerro” being in the Strand Quarter of Lonan.
If you get a photograph I will be most appreciative but lease don’t go to too much trouble

Ivy Cottage - Castletown Road
1834 - Cain, T - Manx Sun 4 July 1834.
IVY COTTAGE TAVERN
T.Cain most respectfully begs leave to announce to his friends in Douglas, Visitors to the Island, and the Public in general that he has altered, Fitted up and Re-opened that Old Established House, about one mile from Douglas, on the Castletown Road where he flatters himself that by strict attention and selling the best Article at a moderate price, to gain their patronage. N.B. Genteel Apartments for single Gentlemen and good beds for Travellers.
1837 - Wilkie Jane, (Pigot's Directory 1837)
1842 - Moore, Charles. (Pigot & Slater 1842) - Charles Moore was an Irish born Army pensioner married to Isabella Christian nee Cannell, the family later emigrated
1851 - Ore, Wm (1851 census) age 41 born England, wife Sarah age 33 born England, 5 yr old daughter born England, 3 year old son born Onchan, 1 year old son born Braddan. By 1861 Sarah with children are shown in Castletown.

Whilst doing some research on The Nunnery a while back I noted a neswpaper story headline concerning the Ivy Cottage Tavern, which I think would have stood opposite the Estate.
The Sun of July 4th 1834 had a story:
"Ivy Cottage Tavern re-opened"
