Very good point. Thank you for that thought. I'm now beginning to think that I've assigned the wrong James Scarff to Ballaskerroo, but don't yet know where to put the other one.

There is a Lonan baptism of John Scarff son of James Scarff of Ballaskirroo 1 Apr 1798, which is 8 months prior to the Marown marriage to Mary Clague and 13 months after the Lonan marriage to Catharine Kneale. Catharine is mentioned in all subsequent baptisms involving James Scarff but I don't think "Ballaskirroo" is mentioned. I must check this all out again.

The 1803 will of James Scarff of Reah (died April 1803) mentions "my godson James Scarff son of James Scarff of Ballaskerrow", but James son of James and Catharine wasn't born until 1804. That's always bothered me and is more evidence that there's another family in here. I had assumed it was a mistake and was meant to be "John".

I'm not very hopeful of figuring this out, but maybe something will turn up.
