My great grandfather Thomas Fayle married Ellen Cain in St John's Church, Liverpool, in 1847.
Thanks to Norma Conwell, Donna Douglass and Brian Lawson's marvellous material, I've traced Ellen's (daughter of Matthias Cain and Ann Lawson of Douglas) lineage farther back than I could ever have hoped for.
My brick wall is now Thomas.
The IGI has a Thomas, son of Thomas Fayle and Jane Quiggin, being baptised in Braddan in 1826 and this would fit - but I can't find any trace of this family in the 1841 census.
On his wedding certificate he states he is of full age, a baker, and his father is also Thomas, a farmer.
I've picked them up on the 1861 (and up to 1891 census, all give approximate birth year as 1827) in Liverpool, on which he states he was born in Douglas
No trace that I can find in 1851.
Does anybody recognise this family or have any suggestions on how I might progress my search ?
Thanks for taking the time to read this :-))
Bob
