Thank you Marie. I have corrsponded with Christina Hernri about this. She has just finished an assignment as Artist in Residence at the City of Parramatta, once a "country district" founded within a year of the First Fleet arriving it is now the geographical heart of Sydney.
The first permanent Female Factory, womens jail, was built at Parramatta 200 years ago and this bonnet project was launched there earlier this year. It is to go on tour around Australia and there are plans for it to be seen in Britain in 2010.
My wife made a bonnet, however as she has the beginnings of Alzheimer’s disease she could not concentrate sufficiently to do the embroidery.
We sent it in anycase and received a thank you from Christima.
I think she would be overjoyed to receive one from you if you are inclined to take the trouble.
