Re: Lonan marriage Thos. Looney & Mary Kelly

Hi Averil,
None of those Looneys have MIs in Lonan Old Yard or 1871 Yard
Lonan Burial Register:
LOONEY Margaret, 29yrs.......27AUG1843 (sic, not SEP)
LOONEY Mary Ann, Minorca, 59yrs....07JUN1881
LOONEY Thomas, Minorca, 68yrs....03APR1884
Do you have details of Archibald Looney's parents?. I can't find them on the IGI. If Archibald's brother was Thomas Looney who married 1) Mgt Shimmin and 2) Mary Ann Kelly, then his son Thomas (b.Shimmin in 1837) married Ann Jane Looney 1868 Lonan (2nd wife), who gave her father on the Marriage Registration as Archibald Looney. That would make then 1st Cousins. (Can't find another Archibald Looney!).
In 1841 Archibald Looney (25, MS) was at Ballabane farm, Andreas; next door (well a few hundred yards!) lived Mary Howland (20) and her grandmother Anne Fargher als Joughin (80). In 1842 Mary had a daughter Ann Jane Howland (no father given), but suspect the father was Archibald, and she is the Ann Jane Looney who married Thomas Looney in 1868.
Also Thomas Looney snr and Mary Ann Kelly had a daur Mary Ann Emily Looney (b.1851)who married William Cleator (b.1845 Jurby) on 21st Sep 1876 at Lonan. In 1881 He was the landlord of the Bellevue Inn, Lezayre. They had 4 children: William, 2, Mary A, 1, infant daughter, 2 days and Letti, 3, who was with her grandparents Thomas and Margaret(should be Mary) in Laxey. It's a pity we cannot view the original 1881 census because there are clearly transcription mistakes.
