Re: THE CRETNEY FAMILY
In Response To: Re: THE CRETNEY FAMILY ()

I'm afraid I haven't followed up the Cretney side of the family, and I can't remember where I got the figure of 14 children from, probably collected orally some years ago.

The children of John and Eliza Callister were:

Eliza Anne Ch 5 June 1865.
Married Jack Corlett at Ramsey, ~1904. She died in 1948.

Margaret Jane Ch 29 November 1865.
Married Charles Boyde and ran a boarding house ‘Hope Villa’ in Demanse Road Douglas.

John Thomas Ch 20 May 1867.
Married Emily Kermode and lived in Hope Street Douglas.
They are probably buried at Marown. John in 1936, and Emily in 1943.

Esther Callister Ch 2 February 1870.
Married Thomas Kermode of Dreemskerry, Maughold and lived at Dreemskerry and/or 8 Westbourne Road, Ramsey. Thomas was killed by a tram in 1925.

Mona Callister Born 1874 and died 1875

Joseph Callister. Born in 1876.
Engineer with the Manx Electric Railway. Married Ada Watson in Nottingham, England in 1903. Emigrated to Australia, Joe working as a tramway foreman.
He died in Bendigo, Victoria in 1942.

Jane Callow Callister (twin) Born in 1882.
Married John James Radcliffe of Lezayre, in 1911. (My grand parents) John died in 1924, Jane in 1958.

William Callow Callister (twin) Born 1882.
Married Annie Holmes in 1910. Worked for the Manx Electric Railway. Emigrated to Australia, and died in Melbourne in 1932. Annie returned to the island and lived in Laxey with their two children.

Emily Selina Callister born ~1885.
Emily married George Corlett (brother of Jack who married Eliza Callister). Emily died in 1934 and George in 1963.
