Sorry I have taken so long to respond - I have been looking at my Quine family, but can find no connection with yours - maybe there is one further back? Anyway, the family I have in Strand Street are :
Thomas QUINE (b: 1786, d: 14 1854 in Douglas) was a Hatmaker, living at 78, Sand Street (1851) married Ann COMAISH on 22 September 1811 in Braddan (b: 1783, d: 1858). They had 6 Children:
1. John QUINE (b.1811) - Painter & Glazier, 80 Sand Street, Douglas, married Mary Ann (b: 1804) – they had 3 Children:
i. Robert QUINE (b: 1837) Painter
ii. John James QUINE (b:1841)
iii. William QUINE b: Bet. (b:1846)
2. Edward QUINE (b: 1813 d. 1899), cordwainer/shoe/boot maker, 93 Strand Street (1871) married. Esther Jane OSWALD on 28 August 1849 (b: 1816 – daughter of Robert Henry OSWALD who was Surgeon to Household of Manx Leut. Governor and was involved in founding of Douglas Hospital) d.1857 - They had 5 children:
i. Sophia Jane QUINE b: Bef. 6 June 1850
ii. Theophilis QUINE b: January 1851, Joiner, Manchester
iii. Oswald QUINE b: September 1852, married Eleanor SKILLICORN (1854 in Lonan) Manager, Railway Goods Depot, Liverpool (My ancestor)
iv. Charlotte Jane QUINE (b 1856 d: 1929) Teacher in Douglas, Isle of Man, lived 1871 - 1881 93 Strand Street married Thomas William KEWLEY Master Painter
v. Esther Jane QUINE (b: 1857 d.1912) Confectioner, 87 Strand Street (1891)
3. Esther QUINE (b: 1815, d: 1826)
4. Jane QUINE (b: 1819 d: Aft. 1891) Milliner, 87 Strand Street (1891),married William CREER (b.1820, d. bef 1881) Painter.
5. Charles QUINE (b: 1821, d. 1827)
6. Elizabeth QUINE (b: 1824) Bet. 1861 - 1881 Housekeeper, with her brother Edward and sister Jane in Strand Street married William LAWSON – one child:
i. Esther Ann LAWSON (b: 1844) Milliner, married Robert TAGGART (d: Bef. 1871)
