Re: Quine & Shimmin Bootmaker for Roger Sainsbury
In Response To: Re: Quine & Shimmin Bootmaker ()

I'm beginning to think i've done my research all wrong, when i've gone through the names and gone over sources they don't seem to add up. This was one of the first sections of my tree i researched a few years ago and i think i may have got it wrong probably through lack of experience. The fact that you have a Quine that worked as a bootmaker on Strand Street it seems likely that my Quine would be connected somehow.

This is the information i have that i know for definite is accurate, could you tell me if you think there is any connection or if you have come across anything in your own research.

My grandfather was Roy Quine Bridson born Douglas 1923, son of Stanley Bridson and Gertrude Fanny Quine.

Gertrude Fanny Quine was born 1892, and appears in the 1901 census with the following family:

No. 7 Strand Street Douglas

John Quine Head 45 years Shoe Maker/Shop Keeper Employer born in Onchan

Mary E. Quine Wife 36 born in Douglas

William J. Quine Son 16 years born in Braddan

Elizabeth E. Quine Daughter 14 years born in Douglas

Thomas H. Quine Son 12 years born in Douglas

Emily Quine Daughter 10 years born in Douglas

Gertrude F. Quine 8 years born in Douglas

Florrie Quine 6 years born in Douglas

Joseph B. Quine 4 years born in Douglas

Stanley C. Quine 2 years born in Douglas

Albert E. Quine 3months born in Douglas.

I've looked up on the IGI's and lots of John Quines have come up, i'm wondering how i came to the conclusion that Thomas Quine and Ann Bridson are his parents. His first son was called William John Quine, so i'm thinking his father may be called William with the second name of John either after himself or his father-in-law John Cowley.

I'm sorry if this information is confusing and i hope you may be able to help me.
