the St Mathew's register (tho it is a bit of a mess - Philip Moore wrote re 1723 baptisms "nb the above and these that follow to the year 1735 wn I commenced chaplain were such as were collected from loose papers and memorandums by me Philip Moore") - states Patrick son of John Tobin + Mary - there is a presentment that John Tobin + Mary Greenwood live together out of marriage - John's will (he died on the Island) names Mary + his children - there is NO Samuel Tobin in any Manx record. The question I pose is the linkage between your early Tobins and the Manx Tobins - John Tobins children are readily found in Manx records, wills etc but I've seen no link to Germany etc in these Manx records
There is sign in the IGI of some 'invention' in the Tobin records eg there is a baptism in Braddan for one of the Tobin children that is definitely not in the St Mathew's register yet the IGI has an entry for this non-event
