Re: robert bruce
In Response To: Re: robert bruce ()

My name is David Bruce and I, too, have been investigating the Bruces of the I.O.M. My GGGgrandfather is John Bruce, wife Margaret Wilson, who emigrated from Scotland (Alford, Aberdeenshire) to the I.O.M. at some point near 1800. From what I gather they settled first in Malew, had children there, and then moved to Bride, where John farmed. Like others, I have found no record of the marriage of John and Margaret. The children that I know of are William, b.06 Nov 1803, Malew; Robert, ____, 1811; James, b.15 Nov 1816, Andreas. James died 08 Feb 1851 and is buried next to his father at Andreas. He had married Margaret Teare on 17 Mar 1838 and had had 3 children, John, Alexander, and Walter prior to his early death. William married Elizabeth Kewley on 05 Feb 1828, Lonan and had children Ann Margaret, Margaret Catherine, Elizabeth Jane, Christian, James Kewley, and John. William was my GGgrandfather and his son John, my Ggrandfather. I would be happy to share more if anyone is interested, or if this info sounds like the trail you are on. David
