This is strange, because I read Len Faragher's post yesterday, and thought hmmm - my memory of the cafe at the Llen is that it was indeed on the right hand side of the road, near the bridge, but that to get to Auntie Lil's, you drove beyond the cafe, and her cottage was on the LEFT. As I was just a kid, I was quite willing to believe I'd got it wrong, but I asked my Mum today, and she too remembers the cafe on the right, and the cottage on the left.
Also, Len says Lil and Geoff both died in 1975, but Mary says the Asian Flu was 1969. Perhaps it wasn't the Asian Flu that killed them, but they were both found dead in the cottage together, and family has it that it was 'the flu'.
Mary - the fruit cake may well have been grand, but the 'cream tea' - scones with cream and homemade jam was pretty special too!
