Hello again! Thanks to some wonderful tips on here, I have managed to trace my paternal Great- Great Grandmother, Sarah Heaney. I have possible to clues to various branches going further back, but I'm still stuck with the mystery of my 'nearer' relatives! My Great Grandmother, who was known in the family as Jessie Starkey, turns out to have been Heaney, just like her Mum, Sarah. This is where it gets complicated - Jessie, as far as I know, had 3 children: James Heaney (my grandfather) and Winnie and Laura Starkey. As Jessie became the step-daughter of Thomas Henry Starkey, when Sarah Heaney married him on 13 June 1893, this is the only link to the name Starkey, yet it seems to have skipped a generation, to Jessie's 2 daughters, but not her son! I can find absolutely no record of Winnie or Laura Starkey (I have also looked under Heaney just in case) As I don't have dates of birth or death for them (but I knew them both very well as a child - I was born in 1955) it's difficult to know where to look next. If anyone out there can think of anything to point me in the right direction, I would be immensely grateful. Here are the few things I know about the mysterious sisters: They were born in Ramsey (Maughold I think) They lived together in Queen's Park Road, Ramsey (probably No.5 as that was Jessie's address when she died) Neither of them ever married. I'm told Laura worked for a Mrs (Edith?) Clegg (Clague?) in Douglas, and that Winnie worked for a farmer near Ramsey. Apparently, either Laura or Winnie was cremated, but the other is believed to be buried in Maughold (new site?) cemetery with Jessie Heaney. There is also a suspicion that an Aunt Lillie (not sure who's sister she is) who married a man called (Geoff?) Lace and lived out at the Lhen, bringing up their son, Timothy - the suspicion being that Timothy was in fact the illegitimate son of Winnie - again, I can find no records of any of these family members - I do know that Lillie and her husband were both found dead in their cottage at the Lhen, having succumbed to the 'Asian Flu' (anyone know what year that was?). I have actually met Aunties Lil, Laura and Winnie, so they are not the figment of family folklore! I can only assume that they were all born after the 1901 census, and I can't access any information post 1901 - any suggestions please??
