I notice the two children were born before the marriage to John Lawson so maybe Catherine was married three times.

There was a christening in Liverpool for Edward to a John and Catherine Hudson and one in Malew for a Catherine.

Therefore the assumption is that Catherine (Bell?) married John Hudson, he died, say Liverpool, and so on.
