More on this. Charles Kaighin came over with his father also Charles. I have a letter written by the father to his nephew (a third Charles Kaighin) residing in NYC on Cherry Street in 1841. See http://www.kaighin.com/FamilyHistory/References/1841_Letter/7400_Letter.htm

There was also an article I read somewhere that I don't have anymore that mentioned several Manx names attending a function at the Bridge Street Methodist church. I believe that was in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle archive or the NY Times archives. That might be a lead worth chasing.
