Well done with the phonetics. Long ago my neighbours spelled their name as Fargher and pronounced it Far-ga. I suspect some people addressed
them so but " behind their backs " many people
referred to them as the Fa- ra - gas. They considered
them to be wanting to sound " posh". Nowadays
good manners dictate you address people as they wish
& I take care to do so whether spelling or
pronunciation.
