I wondered if this could be the John Cavendish with Ellen Kissick in 1860 & 70, (and perhaps 1840)? He's the right age but that's all: his occupation, painter, doesn't tie in with previous clerk and lawyer, his birthplace is MA not OH. Father's birthplace isn't give so that's no help!

The only other John Cavendish I could find around that age is presumably the son of John and Mary.
