Hi Liz,
The price of hiring LDS films to view in their Family History Centres differs in each country. e.g. $4.50 in New Zealand, $6.00 in Australia. I would expect most or all of these films to be available for free in the Manx Museum Library, but under different film numbers, and sometimes different descriptions. The original descriptions would be on the MM ones - the same descriptions as are written on the original volumes, but the LDS make things difficult by often calling each film something quite different. And always have different film numbers from those at the MM.
All those civil registration indexes I listed are filmed from the volumes held at the General Registry, and the registered births etc. are also from the Registry volumes. So if these films are not freely available at the MM it might be cheaper to look at the indexes at the Registry (I don't know what this costs currently). The advantage of the films is that they cover so many years if someone is doing a long search, as Peter is, and you can see years of civil registration entries instead of just one.
If you order the films from the Douglas Family History Centre you might have to wait for the films to be sent in, as we do overseas.
Sue
