There were no significant boat yards on the Isle of Man until the late 18th early 19th century - then there was a differential in tax on timber between UK and the Island which gave the Island a commercial advantage - to best of my knowledge timber was imported from the Baltic. The Ramsey yards were a later start than those in Douglas and basically dated from mid 19th Century and actually had a speciallity in steel hulls.
Obviously there were smaller boats built in previous centuries but the main period for boat building was mid to late 19th Century.
