the family name Ramsey has nothing to do with the Isle of man - the majority of those Ramsey's found in the IGI for IoM are mistranscriptions where the name of the town Ramsey was added (in the usual Manx manner) to distinguish a party to a marriage.
The first Ramsey's (probably irish) appear c 1808 - one of these is probably John Ramsay found in Peel in 1841 and Irish born, as is the other Ramsey (wm , a soldier, found in Douglas in 1841
