Re: Galva, Illinois, USA
In Response To: Re: Galva, Illinois, USA ()

In response to Jan--You were exactly correct about the Cowleys at Nortonville Ks. with a Galva Illinois connection. You were talking about my great grandparents and my grandfather. My great grandfather came first to the US and worked for relatives in Galva Illinois and then went back to the IOM and married Esther Teare. My grandfather and some of his siblings were born at Galva before they moved to Nortonville, KS. There were four children John, Emma, James, and William--all now deceased. They were my great uncles and great aunt. All were married and had children. John is buried in a rural cemetery in Atchison County, Emma Cowley Ziegler is buried in the Nortonville Cemetery, James, my grandfather is buried with his wife Luella Marie Robinson Cowley in the Nortonville Cemetery. William (Uncle Bill) is buried in the Lancaster KS. cemetery. There were a number of IOM families in the Nortonville KS. area. Corkhills Cormodes Cowleys and a few others that I would have to ask my mother about. They were known to be "cousins" but not really closely related. What interest do you have in this line?
