you can pay for a researcher - I know there are many at Kew (the doc numbers should be discoverable via the on-line catalogue) - otherwise you are hoping that someone else has researched the vessel and I suspect you have already googled obvious search terms - the IEE library may well have some details as to the cable etc but probably not to crew lists
