Thanks to both of you. I now know that Place (The Place or Flace), was actually there, a fragment of its history, and even where it is. I can now begin to assemble the bits of information I have, gleaned from Braddan Parish Registers, into a continuation of my ancestors beyond the current sticking point! I will be in touch with you Nigel with this further info – I have your email address, I think (unless you have shifted ISPs!), because my family do seem to be descendants of the Quines of the Place.
