Trying to find information on land owned by Quine family in the early 1800’s.
Family John Quine born 1793 (Onchan) who married Margaret Kelly born 1797 (Braddan)
Does anyone know where the places below are located or named today, to enable me to find them on a modern map.
I understand the family was known as both 'Quine the Battery' & 'Quine the Tailor’. The term ‘tailor’ probably refers to the name of the property that he owned. John had previously lived on an 11 acre farm at Onchan known as’ Tailors Farm’.
In 1824 John bought more land and /or a croft known as 'The Battery' in East Baldwin
In 1831 he bought further land or a croft known as the 'Thie Phillip' and left this to Margaret (married Kelly) his daughter.
In 1851 the family are recorded as living in Ballacrink (John is sill alive aged 58 years).
Any information would be appreciated.
