There is an account of the history of the Slieu Lewaigue Hotel in William & Constance Radcliffe's 'A History of Kirk Maughold' published by the Manx Museum and National Trust. It mentions access to the roof by an outside staircase. The hotel lost its licence in 1906 following the death of Mr. J.J. Corlett.
