Re: Kneale, Corkill, Maughold
In Response To: Re: Looney, Kneale, Maughold ()

Hi - I think that 1765 William Corkill will you saw was one which I transcribed. That family farmed at Ballagorry Mooar, Maughold, but there were many other Corkill families in Maughold at that time.
The other Corkill wills won't be on Brian's website unless someone was tracing the particular family.

I was following the main line [the John you found bapt. 1743] - he married Jane Skillicorn of Lonan. You will see this confirmed by Jane's 1823 admin. which names the same children as in John's 1798 one, and also the Skillicorn wills for her parents, all on Brian's website.

The dau-in-law Margaret was married to son Thomas. I didn't follow his line, but have marr. Margaret Skillicorn as a query, with children John, Thos, William, Margt, "of the Ard" in his 1834 will - all as a suggestion, not confirmed.

You need to start at the bottom of your list, with Thomas Corkill and Elinor Kermod(e), and confirm first that they were the right parents for Elizabeth.
You may need to order several possible Thomas Corkill wills before [hopefully] you find Elizabeth and her husband mentioned. If you check the rest of the film at the same time in the likely areas [e.g. Maughold & Ramsey] you may come across other mentions by siblings or in-laws. Then give Brian the transcripts!

Good luck with this.

Sue
